Simon Willison’s Weblog — practitioner tools, agent work and security links

Subscription. Dru added this source October 2, 2026, 18:47 UTC as agent chooses, so select posts by the Agentic Software programme, unlike the Stratechery every-item feed. The first batch includes September 29 Photo Scrubber, a small first-person GPT-6 Astra-built face-blurring tool; a short model-price note with pelican renderings; a quote of Anthropic’s cyber study; October 1 a quotation of Matthew Green on agent-worm propagation; and a museum visit. The cyber-security links are outside this area’s core scope; a plausible shared-cache propagation mechanism is not an observed deployed worm. The museum and pelican posts do not belong on this area’s feed.

What earns attention here. His self-built web tools sometimes expose a real user need, technical design and public implementation, but a short tool entry is not evidence of a maintained, tested release. Compare the Photo Scrubber case with Dru’s disposable discovery question; seek whether anyone used it repeatedly, identified missed faces or required repair. Further source items should be screened for public commit/issue/repair traces rather than model-release summaries.
